We're putting the spotlight on the M5 Red Blend: Margerum's flagship wine that's a twist-off cap, accessibly priced Rhone varietal blend. This is essentially a GSM (Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre) with a little bit of Cinsault and Counoise blended in to give it its namesake. Extraordinarily popular, the M5 Red has concentrated red and blue fruits with layers of black pepper, tobacco and dried herbs that give savory depth and complexity. However I believe that the defining feature and perhaps the most consistent comment I hear from customers is that this wine is so, so smooth! This juicy, medium bodied and well balanced red is truly a wonderful crowd-pleaser that's perfect for any gathering!
Opaque with dense crimson and ruby red hues, the wine shows a solid core of dark red fruit and spicy fruit surrounded by youthful tannins. The overlying presence of Grenache flavors initially impact the palate, followed by a finish complete with hints of jam, cocoa and dark berry contributions of Syrah and earthy Mourvèdre.
