As Springtime warms us up a little, we've been dreaming of refreshing reds, and of course, Pinot Noir is at the top of our list. With short vintages and demand skyrocketing, red afforda-burgundy seems like practically a thing of the past. So you can imagine our glee when we tasted this gem last week - a new producer to our ears, and a wine that surprised us for its complexity, approachability, and terrific price point!
This bright, juicy red is just the thing on our minds for the Sun (finally) peeking out of the sky - bing cherry, damp earth, rosemary, silky raspberry, rosy floral aromatics, and a zesting of nutmeg. Easy-going and fun but unmistakably Burgundy, this fresh Pinot Noir is just what the doctor ordered! The Thevenet family owns this single vineyard in southern Burgundy called 'Les Clos' - the walled vineyard. The ancient walls surrounding this tiny plot keep it warmer than surrounding areas, allowing for optimal ripeness, making this little red a big winner for us! $25bt for red Burgundy is rare these days, and the provenance of a single vineyard on top of it makes this one of our new go-to reds!
