The 2019 Small Vines Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is all hand-harvested from their estate-grown and organically farmed vineyards. The husband and wife team of Paul and Kathryn Sloan called their winery "Small Vines" in reference to the grand cru vineyards of Burgundy that boast shorter, low-yielding vines that produce the extraordinary wines that they first fell in love with. This Pinot is truly hand-made in every way; hand-harvested, native yeast fermentations with all gentle hand punch-downs for incredibly precise and silky tannins, aging in only air-dried 3-year-old barrels to preserve the verve and perfectly pure character of the Pinot they work so hard to farm. This wine boasts waves of vivid cherry and pomegranate over wild strawberries and spice. Hints of mineral earth and plum spin on a luscious vein of vibrant acidity that is the charm of these cool-climate coastal vineyard sites.
Bright layers of citrus and strawberry highlight a wild element of high-toned character in this fiercely complex, tannic wine that expands on the palate over time. Floral rose and lavender persist from start to finish.
Aromas of baked strawberry, pitted red cherry and pine cone. Medium-bodied with silky tannins and bright acidity. Succulent and vibrant on the palate, with a lot of pretty red fruit and berries. Subtle, savory undertones.
