The 2022 Montepeloso A Quo Toscana Rosso is a Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon-based red blend that clocks in at 13.5% abv. It's the winery's biggest production bottling (~2,500 cases) and the most accessibly priced wine in their lineup. When you pop the cork, earthy and rustic aromas of tilled soil and leather waft out of the glass. While prominent at first, these rustic aromas dissipate into the background while cedar, tobacco, and ripe red fruits become more prominent and carry through on the palate. I love the juicy vibrancy and this would pair wonderfully with roast chicken or pizza!
A firm and silky red with blackberry and blueberry character with some hints of cream. Medium-bodied with polished tannins and a fresh finish. Racy and refined at the end.
Just bottled, the 2022 A Quo is a bold, juicy wine to drink now and over the next few years. Succulent red cherry fruit, sweet spice, cedar, tobacco and new leather give this mid-weight, vinous red quite a bit of charm.
