As with any Nebbiolo based wine, the 2018 Bramaterra has the structure and vibrancy to age for a long time, but even so, this is a surprisingly elegant wine with supple tannins. There's strawberries and a hint of iodide on the nose - perhaps only detectable to me because Cristiano pointed it out. Overall ripe and red fruit driven on the palate, this is complemented by iron, tobacco and leather in the background. As elegant as this is texturally, it's clear that the wine will benefit from more time in bottle. In my opinion, this is not necessarily a hedonistic wine such as the Silvio Nardi Brunello but rather an intriguing and different wine that will appeal to Barolo lovers.
"This Bramaterra shows the wiry structure typical of the appellation, but also a broad range of generous flavors (tobacco-leaf, sandalwood, red fruits). It’s ripe, but also very fresh in acidity, a hallmark of this region. Age-worthy but drinkable when young too. If you love Nebbiolo you should try it. Drink with rich egg pastas or grilled meats."
"The 2018 Bramaterra is captivating from the very first taste. Sweet, perfumed and almost intoxicatingly beautiful, the 2018 possesses striking inner sweetness and huge depth, marrying power and elegance to a degree I have not seen in previous vintages. As alluring as the 2018 is today, it is most certainly a wine to put away for at least a handful of years. I especially admire its explosive energy. This is the first vintage made with stems, about 35%."
