Emphasis on a sense of place with ease of enjoyment. Classic low-intervention winemaking with modern touches. Native fermentations. No new oak.
Tasting Notes: Ripe nectarines and peaches lead to juicy melon and crunchy apples. A succulent cream texture flows on the palate with flinty mineral, honey, and lemon zest, finishing with lingering fruit and a touch of sea salt. A delicious easy-drinking wine of purity and balance.
Vineyards: 66% Strange Family Vineyard 18% John Sebastiano Vineyard 16% Donnachadh Vineyard Vintage This vintage, 2023, was an especially cool and long growing season in the Central Coast. A welcomed wet winter, gave way to a mild spring, summer, and early fall that held grapes on the vines for an exceptionally long time. Our coastal influence and breeze kept the fruit in great shape until harvesting. The end result was beautifully golden berries, with ripe fruit flavors and an energetic acidity.
Winemaking: We practice classic, low-intervention winemaking with modern touches. We hand harvested grapes in the early morning hours to retain freshness and cool temperatures. Native fermentations and aging on lees for 9 months occurred in 67% neutral oak barrels, 33% stainless steel barrels. Bentonite fining and gentle cross-flow filtration were implemented for clarity. Our Chardonnay was only racked once before bottling, and we used minimum effective SO2.
