Bold and riper in style than is usual for this winery, this bottling offers cherry compote, stewed strawberry and toasty spices on the jubilant nose. The palate is fresh, ripe and vivacious, showing sumac, cinnamon and rich red fruit. A eucalyptus leaf tone, menthol finish and sappy texture add counterpoints.
From sandy soils north of Sta. Rita Hills, the 2021 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard has a clean, up-front, fruit-driven nose of ripe strawberries, framboise, leafy herbs, and flowers. This carries to a medium-bodied, round, supple, seamless Pinot Noir with gorgeous purity of fruit, no hard edges, and outstanding length. It shows the supple, elegant, incredibly well-balanced style of the vintage and is already impossible to resist. This was 88% destemmed and spent 16 months in just 10% new French oak.
The 2021 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard is gracious and effusve, as wines from this site tend to be. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, cedar tobacco and dried flowers all grace this refine, nuanced Pinot. Silky tannins wrap it all together. This is such a pretty wine.
