'Amici' means friends, and this wine is certainly friendly to our Cab-loving palates! Amici cellars' winemaking team is led by Tony Biagi, who made his fame in Napa making wines for such lauded wineries as CADE, Hourglass, Paraduxx, Plumpjack, and Sinegal. If that resume doesn't show his expertise, the 94pt score on his 'entry tier' Amici Napa Cab sure does! Amici sources from historic & prized vineyards: To Kalon, Missouri Hopper, and Oakville Ranch, and their Napa Cabernet is a of juice that doesn't make it into the single vineyard bottlings.

There's a lot to love in this bottle for the price! Chocolate-covered blueberries, boysenberry preserves, vanilla bean toast, clove, and herbal thyme, with luscious texture that has only gotten more velvety and alluring since we last tasted it a few months ago. This Cab (well, 88% Cabernet Sauvignon with 6% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc) is hitting the spot right now, but we see it developing nicely for another 5-10 years - drink this while you wait for your To Kalon to reach maturity!

James Suckling: 93 Points

Perfumed cabernet with aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberries, thyme, violets, crushed stones and cloves. Full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins. Structured and concentrated. Better after 2023.

Wine Advocate: 92-94 Points

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with loads of blueberry preserves and stewed black plums notes on the nose with faint suggestions of redcurrant jelly and rose hip tea plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied and jam-packed with ripe black and blue fruit, it has a soft texture and perfumed finish.
Barrel Sample: 92-94

Jeb Dunnuck: 92 Points

Made with the goal of great Napa Cabernet at $50 bucks, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley succeeds admirably, offering gorgeous cassis, violet, and chocolaty aromatics as well as medium to full-bodied richness, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, and silky tannins. It competes with wines at three times the cost. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 75% new barrels.
